We spent the last year reinventing our secondary learning content and we have some great new project based curriculum out from Autodesk, check out the new Autodesk Digital STEAM Workshop www.autodesk.com/digitalsteam<http://www.autodesk.com/digitalsteam>

We have used Unity for a project to create a game about recycling and also create interactive project viewers for all our projects, we also have an app on learning about visual design. It’s a new dynamic portal and we will be adding content on a regular basis.

I mentor at The Kent Bellows Studio for Visual Art<http://kentbellows.org> as a digital/interaction artist. I've run workshops on analog game design as well as helped interested students make video games. Given the nature of the Studio, and my training, we approach games not as a commercial venture, but as a medium for artistic expression.

I come from Library and Information Science, and I work with school libraries. My current research project is to create a toolkit to help librarians to make their school library into a game design resource for teachers to tap. If one school librarian gets excited about game design, she/he has the ability to inspire many, many teachers. The tools I create will also be useful for teachers, but my primary focus is to work with school librarians.

My own focus is on face-to-face games such as board and card games to complement all of the research currently going on with digital game creation tools. I'm currently on a research leave from the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University and am working with the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT game lab at MIT on this project.

My new blog on the topic is called Because Play Matters, and it is at http://becauseplaymatters.com .

I work on multiple game-related projects aimed at children and teachers,
learning and teaching through both games and making games.

I have done a one-week summer camp on game design for high schoolers at University of Minnesota at Crookston for the last 5 (6?) years. We usually get about 20 students, but last year it was cancelled as we only had 9.

Try again next year!

Hi Suzanne,

I teach game design and programming in a summer outreach program for
9th - 12th graders. It lasts a month, and we focus on teaching them
how to design and create their own games (2D) over the course of a
month. Many of them have no programming experience, so we teach them
all of that too.

Hello Suzanne,
I am part of an NSF sponsored project that has been focused on high school and middle school game education, and specifically learning through making games. Some details are available at our website http://www.p4games.org/ . We have hosted weeklong summer camps for high schoolers on our campus in the past, and are now more focused on teaching the teachers. Thanks for thinking about this sector too.

Hi,

We have an outreach program that teaches programming concepts from years 6-12 which I run (and teach on) using Kodu Game Lab. We have also been running some workshops for secondary school teachers to provide them with the skills to teach programming concepts with Kodu Game Lab and LEGO Mindstorms.
