Hi Scott,

I developed and helped run a Drupal-powered gamification of an existing
course (taught by James Davis) last fall here at UCSC for CMPS170 Computer
Graphics as the TA. I adapted the user points module along with a method
for the grader tutors to grade assignments as a checklist of requirements,
along with an economy-based points system where students could purchase
extensions and "respecs" where they could reweight their grades.
Unfortunately there is not a write up available yet, but I can provide more
details and access to the site itself. The students overall found the
course design and execution extremely valuable, as the points provided
positive reinforcement for posting videos/content, creating quizzes and
otherwise validated in areas they felt otherwise unrewarded for in
traditional course structures.
