Hello IGDA EdSig members;

Call for Participation: Fukushima Game Jam 2012 in August
Game Developers Across the Region Work Together to Build Games With Youth for Creative Recovery

IGDA Japan, in partnership with the local government of Minamisoma
city, announced Fukushima Game Jam 2012 to be held in August 5th
weekend (Just before SIGGRAPH).

Details are announced at below:
Title Call for Participation (in English)
URL http://fgj12.ecloud.nii.ac.jp/?p=1107

In last summer, we held Fukushima Game Jam 2011 at the same location
and it brought huge attention from inside/outside Japan. (For example,
nice blog article available at
http://neutrontrail.com/2012/03/tsunami-struck-fukushima-community-inspires-creative-recovery/)
and IGDA Japan representive received 2011 IGDA MVP award.

Now we IGDA Japan calls for the game developers (professionals,
students, and scholars) who join the jam at Minamisoma main site.
Jam is similar with Global Game Jam style. In addition, we plan some
local events before/during the game jam. 1)Short visit to the Tsunami
disaster area, 2)Kids workshop with local children. The main site is
located in Minamisoma city hall and also provides a radiation
monitoring station for citizens.

We also call for local chapters to open local game jam site for
collaboration. (We may provide some digital materials from local kids
workshop and you can use them during the game jam.) We already have
at least three satellite jam sites in Tokyo, Fukuoka in Japan, and
Taipei in Taiwan.

For further information, see our announcement above in English
and ask us via email.

Thanks;
