POSITION AVAILABLE: Full Time Lecturer in Game Design, Qantm College
Melbourne

Qantm College Melbourne is seeking a full time Lecturer in Game Design
within our Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment degree at our Melbourne
campus.

You will need to be a committed design educator, with a practical
professional foundation in the technical realities of game design and
development. Your primary responsibilities will include:

- The development and continual improvement of internationally
benchmarked, academically well-grounded curricula in game design and
development
- The delivery and continual improvement of best-in-class learning
experience, through a range of methods, such as lectures, tutorials,
consultation and blended learning
- Effective and timely assessment and moderation of student outcomes,
together with a commitment to maintaining accurate and effective student
records
- A focus on student-centred teaching and learning that considers the
student as a whole person
- The development of a collegiate workplace, and a strong contribution
to the intellectual and professional vibrancy of our campus as a community
of practice

>From a technical perspective, the role will also involve working with our

students to develop working game projects in either Unity or UDK. Our game
design students are required to deliver to a range of platforms, including
PC, browsers, iOS and Android. Applicants should therefore be conversant
with practical development in at least one of these engines and have a
strong professional knowledge of delivery of design to the listed
platforms, while fluency in both would be an advantage.

As a professional college, we hire both academic and industry staff.
Academic applicants should have a strong grasp of recent literature in the
field, hold a +1 related qualification (e.g. M.Des or Ph.D) or be
significantly in progress towards completion. Applicants who instead have
an extensive industry background in game development are also encouraged to
apply - you should have at least 3 years professional experience and a
relevant degree qualification, and preferably some experience of Agile
development methods.

Ongoing classroom practice mentoring will be provided for the successful
applicant, in a supportive environment dedicated to the academic practice
of teaching, so applicants who wish to begin developing their academic
teaching and learning practice are particularly encouraged to apply.
Candidates wishing to job share the role on a fractional basis are also
encouraged to apply.

A decision will be made, subject to suitable applicants, by the 21st of May
at the very latest.
