Overview:
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Quinnipiac University
invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank
of the assistant professor in game design and development to begin
August 2013.
Responsibilities:
In addition to teaching and course development full time faculty
responsibilities include service to the university and the community as
well as the pursuit of scholarship and research in the field. Special
consideration will be given to applicants open to collaborating on
projects and activities that involve the community, education and raise
the visibility of the program.

Candidates should be open to collaborating with colleagues within the
Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the College of Arts and
Science in developing new emerging forms such as storytelling, audio
narrative or interactive theater, as well as developing games in
collaboration with faculty in the Schools of Business, Communications,
Law, Health Sciences, and Medicine.

In addition to the primary responsibilities of contributing to the game
design program, candidates may be called upon to teach in the
university's core seminar series on "The Individual in the Community,"
"Our National Community," and "The Global Community." Our department
values excellent teaching, active scholarship, and service to the
university and community.



Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants:
Qualified applicants must have an MFA or terminal degree in a related
field. Experience in industry or a background in game creation,
interactive arts and media is preferred. Previous teaching experience
at the college level is required. The successful applicant will
demonstrate a dedication to teaching along with a demonstrated ability
to teach a range of courses on game design or game art at the
undergraduate level. Also necessary is a strong commitment to
collegiality and collaboration as a member of a team in building a
program that emphasizes serious and meaningful analog and digital games.
