Joe,

They can, especially due to the hypogam if it is low enough, but since the T cells they do have function normally they usually do not have problems from that aspect. Unfortunately replacing the Ig doesn't work since they lose it too fast. For the most part they do well.

Protein losing enteropathy s/p Fontan procedure for hypoplastic left heart may result in severe hypogammaglobulinemia and T-lymphopenia.

Are these patients clinically immunocompromised? i.e. do they experience opportunistic infections?
