Dear listserv:

We have a 65 year old female with a hypogammaglobulinemia, poor response to vaccination, autoimmunity (including Raynaud's), but minimal infections, who was recently started on Hizentra 100 mg/kg weekly. She has baseline mild hearing loss and tinnitus for at least 5-6 yrs, but reports that this has been worsening steadily for about 2 weeks. She started Hizentra approximately 5 weeks ago, and is otherwise doing well. Her IgG is now 850 mg/dL.

We did a search on hearing loss/tinnitus associated with subcutaneous IgG replacement but didn't find anything. CSL Behring was contacted, and they could not find any literature on this either.

Has anyone encountered hearing loss/tinnitus problems in patients on Hizentra or IgG replacement? We have advised her to follow up with her otolaryngologist to further evaluate this change in hearing but we were curious to see if anyone else had any experience or thoughts on the matter.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Art
