[sbe-eas] EAS Encoder/Decoder Funding Question

I would take you back to the Broadcast Station Protection Program which
blended Civil Defense equipment and FCC licenses for remote-pickup
equipment, for fallout shelter construction and stocking, and equipment to
broadcast from the fallout shelter. Commercial stations I'm aware of in
Albuquerque and in Santa Fe both got equipment and supplies from this
program.

The Albuquerque station at one point had large round barrels of rancid
crackers in its fallout shelter, along with a 16-inch turntable, and small
mixer, and a microphone, among other audio accessories. Thankfully they were
eventually thrown out.

The Santa Fe station got a high-band Marti system among other equipment
pieces.

It was a program executed in the time of ConelRad.

I remember it well.

Of course, having reached the ripe old age of 80, lots of interesting
programs have come and gone during my time!

Subject: [sbe-eas] EAS Encoder/Decoder Funding Question

Long time listener, but first time caller here. I was asked a good question
that I am reaching out for NCE and LP background, as I doubt that
commercial stations have ever benefitted. Has the FCC ever provided funding
for EAS equipment purchase due to Federal mandates?
