[SBE] Question about Radio Station ID for HD services --

I mostly hear "WXXX Anytown" instead of "WXXX-HD-1 Anytown." As far as I've
been told, it should be "WXXX Anytown" as the HD Receiver itself is
identification enough that it is a digital signal.

As for multicasts... I've heard a lot of mixed opinions and the FCC Rules
are not super clear about the syntax they want - basically that it just has
to identify itself in some manner as a digital channel. What I've heard
mostly is "WXXX HD2 Anytown" and in some cases where it is a simulcast "WXXX
Anytown WXYZ-HD2 Othertown."

I've also heard others say that the digital display on the HD Receiver
itself is sufficient for identification for multicast channels... but
personally I'm more comfortable with an aural identification as I can't
control whether or not that display is functioning properly. I think about
the following scenario: if the audio is bad, people wouldn't be listening
anyhow... but if the display is damaged or disabled in some way but the
audio still comes through fine people would still listen and may still need
the identification.

The convention of "WXXX HD-[number] Anytown" seems to be the convention I'm
seeing most often. I'd love to see some real clarification on this though.
