[SBE] Pay scale

Depends on region. I make far more here in the DC area than I did in the midwest, but cost of living is ridiculously high here. Keep that in mind when looking for jobs. Everything may look great on paper, but do some research on the area. Also compare benefit pkgs (although with the new bill, everyone will get stuck with crap). Check websites on median income levels in comparison to what the job is gonna pay. That will help to clue you in on what you're actual pay will be.

Subject: [SBE] Pay scale

Hi All,

Refering to the story I read and mentioned on CNN and the homeless person who got into
television with no training and questionable character because he has been in prison and
homeless (even though we don't know his exact circumstances)...leads me to a question
(and I am not asking for specific information from anyone as that is of course of a personal
nature)...but typically, what kind of pay scale can a broadcast engineer expect to make. I
understand this is going to vary with contract work, years of experience, type of work you
specifically do, etc...but typically I am curious as to what the average broadcast technician
takes home weekly/yearly, etc.

Thanks,

Russ
