here is an interesting story on Yahoo I read today. This topic has been great and other than a little paranoia anti government talk (which I've enjoyed) it has all been relevant.

Thank you,

I agree with Dan's posting and would add. If the moderation of this board is going to declare "off topic" any time we step into the political side of our business when it is relevant to the subject at hand then this board is useless. Like it or not we are controlled by the government, completely from a technical aspect and partially from a programming aspect. If the moderators declare an idea that may very well impact the programming we carry or the bandwidth we are assigned and ultimately our jobs as broadcast engineers as "off topic" then this board is a waste of time and money. Many of us do have a broad knowledge of our industry outside of engineering. For my part in that knowledge I started in small market radio where I was a part owner, operations manager, annoucer, newsman, salesman, lawnmower, plumber and the engineer. To this day when a salesperson comes up to me and says "you just don't know what it is like out there on the street every day trying to sell this place" I can reply yes I do know, I have been there. The political forces are trying to take more control of our industry so to hide our head in the sand and say it does not apply to us or I do not want to hear that idea is very short sighted.
