That's exactly what we've done--my husband uses my "old" computer and the
3550 is connected to it. I can still run my inspection stuff on that one,
but not without some trauma...

 Might I suggest you leave a pre-Win7 machine running as a "print server"
 and just share the printer from that machine ?
 Waste of a machine, but you *are* talking Microsoft and HP !
