Hi Jeremy-

I don't know how HDCP affects OTA STBs, but HDCP only applies to HDMI
outputs. Component will be in the clear.
We are using component to HD-SDI converters to get Cable and DBS
signals into our router. The bigger problem is the audio levels into
a broadcast router.

Component/analog audio into a HD Modulator or IPTV encoder will work
fine. I have a couple of Contemporary Research QMOD enocders in our
building and I've very pleased with them. The agile modulator has
saved my bacon more than once when the cable company changes their
line up.

On word of caution: If you are going to remod, I suggest an closed
MATV system. If you plan to lay the campus channels on the same
infrastructure as the local cable provide distribution, you may need
to invest in expensive filters to keep the QAM channels you are using
in the clear. We didn't and every six months or so the local provide
lights up another high channel QAM and we need to change our modulator
and reprogram all the TVs!

Best of luck and let us know how you make out.
