Thanks John -

Was a mixture of two issues; I wondered about using the LS's as well -
didn't key in that the C's were CMOS right away but had some HC245's on
order by the time you replied.  It also appears that some of the "tested
good" 74C245's were marginal.

After replacing all of them with the 74HC245's, it's working great!

Otherwise, had a link to the FTP site - but had to back up a few
directories to find the ROM files, so I'm good there as well.
