The 2nd Kentucky New Music Festival produced by the Central Kentucky Student
Chapter of SCI at the University of Kentucky is presenting 60x60 2008
Midwest Minutes

If you will be in the Lexington, KY area next week (November 9-14) the
University of Kentucky and the Central Kentucky Student Chapter of SCI is
presenting five concerts associated with the 2nd Kentucky New Music
Festival. The schedule of events is below.

60x60 2008 Midwest Minutes Electronic Music Concert Thursday, November 13 at
6:00pm in the John Jacob Niles Gallery at the Fine Arts Library.

This electronic music concert features 60 one-minute works by 60 different
composers played back to back for a one-hour concert. In addition to the
music playback, there will be a center screen projecting a windows media
player visualization, a side screen projecting the composer's biography and
program notes for each piece, and a side screen displaying a clock to help
the audience keep track of when one piece ends and another begins.

2nd Annual
Kentucky New Music Festival

Concert 1: Sound Foundry
Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 7:30pm in the Recital Hall at the Singletary
Center for the Arts.

This concert features the UK graduate jazz combo Sound Foundry playing some
of their favorite works.

Concert 2: Music of the 21st-Century
Monday, November 10, 2008 at 7:30pm in the Recital Hall at the Singletary
Center for the Arts.

This concert features works written after the year 2000 and will include
electronic and DVD works as well as live performance works by the following
composers: Bolte, Cole, Elezovic, Dechtenberg (UK Composer), Sovkoplas (UK
Composer), Thorncock, and Young-Shin.

Concert 3: Modern Classics Concert
Tuesday, November 11 at 6:00pm in the John Jacob Niles Gallery at the Fine
Arts Library.

For this concert, UK students (Michael Hardin and Russell Kahmann) and
faculty (Nancy Clauter, Peter Simpson, and Raleigh Dailey) will be
performing some of their favorite works by well known composers of the 20th
and 21st-Centuries.

Concert 4: 60x60 2008 Midwest Minutes Electronic Music Concert Thursday,

Concert 5: Guest Performer Andrea Ceccomori, flute Friday, November 14,
2008 at 7:30pm in the Recital Hall at the Singletary Center for the Arts.

Andrea Ceccomori earned a degree in flute performance at the Morlacchi Music
Conservatory in Perugia, Italy. Mr. Ceccomori performs both classical and
contemporary music and has appeared at national and international festivals
such as Spazio Musica, Cagliari, Italy; Nuova Consonanza and Musica
Verticale, Rome, Italy; and Biennale of Contemporay Music, Zagreb, Croatia.
In the United States Mr. Ceccomori has appeared as guest performer at
universities in New York, Connecticut, Florida, Colorado, Georgia, and
Mississippi.
