And Last But by no means least
Saturday October 3rd, 2009 – 60x60 Dance -Wall Street Nightclub, Columbus,
Ohio
New York City based Vox Novus will team up with local choreographers to
present 60x60 Dance, an exciting performance of contemporary music and dance
unlike any you’ve seen before. 60x60 Dance takes 60 one-minute audio works
(by 60 different composers) and pairs them with 60 new dances by different
choreographers. The resulting collaborations are presented, without
interruption, as a continuous one-hour performance synchronized to an
on-stage analog clock.

“The first thing to be said about “60x60 Dance” is that it is a masterpiece
of organization. The idea — 60 new dance pieces are performed to 60 new
pieces of music, each lasting no more than 60 seconds — is quite mad. But
it’s this kind of madness that makes the cultural world go round
” An
Express Without Any Delays By ROSLYN SULCAS, New York Times, November 17,
2008
Embracing a grassroots ideology, 60x60 Dance makes its debut in Ohio by
recruiting local choreographers and dances for the performances.
Participating choreographers will be assigned a piece from the current 60x60
International mix. 60x60 Dance in Columbus will present new dance by a
diverse collection of central Ohio choreographers including a myriad of
regional artists, students and teachers from the surrounding universities,
and even choreographers returning to Ohio specially for this performance.

60x60 was originally conceived of as an electronic music project, collecting
60 second works by composers and sound artists from around the world. Since
2003, 60x60 has featured the work of more than 1200 composers in concerts
spanning the globe. From the beginning 60x60 was a natural vehicle for
collaborating with other art forms. Initially this included video,
photography and sculpture. In 2007, 60x60 teamed up with choreographers and
60x60 Dance was born. Since then this unique collaboration has produced
seven exciting shows, each featuring a different group of composers and
choreographers.
For the 2009-2010 season Vox Novus is taking 60x60 Dance on the road
beginning in Ohio and continuing through Kansas City, St Louis, New York,
and Montreal.
