Mayor Bloomberg Proclaims May 22nd Dance Parade Day!
This Saturday marks the Fourth Annual Dance Parade and Festival and the
second year in which Mayor Michael Bloomberg officially endorses the event
with a proclamation. This year, over 6000 dancers (and counting), 164
organizations and over 65 unique styles and disciplines of dance in New York
City (and beyond) will parade down Broadway, turn east on St. Marks Place
and culminate with a free dance festival at Tompkins Square Park. Governor
Patterson, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, State Senator Thomas K. Duane
and City Councilmember Rosie Mendez have also officially endorsed Dance
Parade with letters of support.

"renowned dancer Martha Graham once said, 'Dance is the hidden language of
the soul.' Indeed, by touching so many lives and encouraging diversity
through dance, Dance Parade encourages a brighter spirit in all of us.
On behalf of all New Yorkers, I commend all those associated with Dance
Parade for their commitment to promoting the Love of Dance throughout the
five boroughs and beyond. Please accept my best wishes for a wonderful
parade and much continued success.
Now therefore, I, Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of The City of New York, do
hereby proclaim Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 in the City of New York as: DANCE
PARADE DAY."
