60x60 Dance is seeking choreographers, dancers and performance artists of
all styles and genres to participate in the upcoming 60x60 Dance event in
the American Arts Experience in St. Louis.

WHAT IS 60x60?

60x60 Project is a one-hour-long show made by sequencing 60 pre-recorded
pieces by 60 different composers with 60 dance works from 60 different
choreographers. Each piece is a minute in length creating one of the most
electric, one of a kind performance that never ceases to surprise.

 

Selected Participants

For 60x60 dance events, each selected performer/group will be invited to
create a one-minute performance to one of the 60 compositions. The 60
performances will be joined to create a one hour show.

 

We encourage all choreographers to submit for this opportunity and welcome
all styles and forms from tribal to ballet, to hip-hop, to ballroom, tap and
contemporary, while music includes neo-romantic, folk, tech-house, noise,
rock and everything but the kitchen sink.

To be considered and to qualify, each choreographer must submit the
following.

 

1) BIO (50 words or less)

 

2) CONTACT INFORMATION.  Including:  Name, Phone Number, and Email.

 

3) SAMPLE OF WORK - EXCEPTION*

Please send a sample under 3 minutes in length. Note the sample work does
not have to be complete OR of the actual piece that will be performed.
Suggestion: upload work to YouTube or other online video gallery and share
the link in your application.

 

*EXCEPTION - If you do not have a work sample, please send your application
directly to me ( <mailto:jestack at gmail.com> jestack at gmail.com).  Include the
following:

 

** If you participated in the 2010 60 x 60 production:  Please include the
number and title of your music selection.

 

** If you did not participate in the 2010 production: Provide a reference.
If any of the following MDO board members have viewed your composition work
and can be called as a reference please indicate whom of the following:
Cecil Slaughter, Alice Bloch, Ashley Tate, Dana Jones, Diadie Bathily, Diana
Barrios, Ken Marshall, Loryl Breitenbach, Mary Ann Rund, Sarah Anne Patz,
Summer Beasley, Jessica Stack.

 

If none of these individuals can serve as a reference, please provide the
name, title and phone number of someone who is in a position to provide such
a reference regarding your choreographic work.

Additional Information.

 

If selected, all groups and individuals will be required to be available the
day of the event for an informational meeting, walk-through, dress rehearsal
and performance.

 

Rehearsal is to be conducted on an individual level on your own time, with
one full group rehearsal taking place in the afternoon on the day of show,
Sunday October 2, 2011 at the Sheldon Concert Hall. Choreographers will be
paid a flat rate per minute for their work, and are encouraged to negotiate
a split with dancers.
