[Voxnovus] Call for Works : 15-Minutes-of-Fame for one-minute soprano and piano duet

15-Minutes-of-Fame: written for Jenny Greene

Vox Novus is calling for one-minute soprano and piano duet composed for
15-Minutes-of-Fame: Jenny Greene to be performed at the November 13, 2011
Composer's Voice concert in New York City. The one-minute art songs for
soprano piano duet are to be written specifically for this project, which
will be performed by Jenny Greene and her piano accompanist. All works must
be 60 seconds or less.

Jenny Greene's range is from middle C to Eb above high C. You are welcome to
include coloratura, as well as longer lyrical vocal passages. Dramatic works
and extended vocal techniqes are strongly encouraged.

Submission guidelines:
-Submission Deadline August 1, 2011
-Works written for soprano and piano duet (extended vocal techniqes are
strongly encouraged)
-Works must be submitted as a PDF file with a picture of the composer,
50-word biography, and 50-word program note about the piece.
-Works must be one minute in length. No works over a minute will be
reviewed.
-Works need to be submitted via email to: composersvoicesubmit at gmail.com
-The subject line should read - 15-Minutes-of-Fame: Jenny Greene - Composer
Name - Composition Title
-The 50-word biography and 50 word program notes must be pasted as text in
the body of the email.
-The composer's a picture must be attached as a jpg file.
-The score must be attached as a pdf. (performance notes should be included
with the score.)
-All text must be in public domain or must have permission from the author
in an attachment to the email submission.
-Include the dedication to Jenny Greene on the score
-Works should be composed specifically for this project and performer. All
pieces must be premieres and not previously written or performed.

No works over a minute will be reviewed. Multiple submission are
discouraged. Send your best work! The results will be announced by September
15s, 2011 on the Vox Novus website, and composers of 15 accepted works will
be notified by email.

A native of Washington State, Jenny Greene has been performing since
childhood. After studying voice at Central Washington University, she gained
professional experience in Seattle (Maria - Sound of Music, Hodel - Fiddler
on the Roof, and Mary Jane - Big River) before heading to New York City in
2008. Ms. Greene has specialized in new works on both coasts, creating the
roles of Amy (The North Arcade) and the Cat (Jack Prelutsky's Something Big
Has Been Here) in Seattle and The Composer (The Two Cents Opera), Alice
(Wonderland), Aphrodite (Sappho in the Mix) and Martha (Thomas Pasatieri's
God Bless Us Everyone) in New York City.

In the 2009/10 season, she made her debut with several opera companies,
including Village Light Opera, Opera Manhattan and Opera Regina and joined
the production team of the new music company Alphabet Soup Productions as
the Artistic Director of Opera and Artist in Residence. She also made her
Bard Summerscape Festival debut in Franz Schreker's Der Ferne Klang.

In 2010/2011 Ms. Greene made a well-received debut as Pamina (Die
Zauberflote) for Opera Manhattan and was a Resident Artist at Dicapo Opera
Theater where she performed the role of Nella (Gianni Schicchi). Other
season highlights include Peep-Bo (The Mikado) and Giulietta (The Tales of
Hoffmann-cover) at Regina Opera as well as concerts with West Fourth New
Music Collective, Vox Novus and Composers Play Composers.
