NM421 is going to take a little break for the summer. With the exception of
a miscellaneous post or two NM421 will be back in the late summer with
weekly updates with Vox Novus calls and concert announcements.

With the launch of NM421, there have been over 30 with: concert
announcements, opportunity listings, there have been great reviews of many
Composer's Voice concerts from Erin Bomboy, a musical postcard from David
Gunn every week, and even a few CD reviews. We hope to do a lot more the
next concert season! NM421 is looking for contributors. Contact me at

Another exciting season for the concert series with over 15 concerts, we had
our: 1st Stone Soup fund raising gala, 2nd annual Japan Perspective, 3rd
annual Brazil concert, 4th annual women's concert, and 5th annual guitar
concert. There was our first collaboration concert in Boston.

And we have "unofficially" launched our curator program. Composer's Voice is
looking for concert curators for 2015 as well as interns to help out with
the setup and promotion of the concerts. It is a great way to get to know
the community and get your works performed by fabulous musicians. If you are

support at VoxNovus.com. (Remember you can always do a collaboration concert
outside New York City.)


Fifteen Minutes of Fame

This series is only just starting and it is expanding at an exponential
rate. The project has already presented more than 300 composers with over 35
musicians/ensembles. Vox Novus is scheduling a Fifteen Minutes of Fame on
almost every Composer's Voice concert. (that's at least 20 a year!) New
calls for Fifteen Minutes of Fame come available about every 2 weeks and our

The decade celebration of 60x60 has been a tremendous success with more than
10 different 60x60 mixes. We have three final mixes to announce including
the International mix, before we announce the 11th Annual 60x60 call for
works. We have done all new video collaborations and dance versions of the
mix and still have some big performances in the works. More about 60x60 is
coming soon. Important announcements about the end of the 60x60 decade
celebration, the 11th annual 60x60, and 12th annual 60x60 - "Once around the

An hour before world renowned percussionist Lex Lipsnacker was scheduled to
perform at Bung Hollow Symphony Hall, he was found dead - murdered - in his
dressing room. Sgt. Pringler of the Bung Hollow Constabulary was baffled.
There was, as far as he could tell, no motive for the crime, no sign of a
struggle, and, except for the drumstick Lipsnacker was clutching in his
right hand, no clue. But if the drumstick did have a story to tell, there
was only one person in all of policedom who could decipher it. Lieutenant
Adele Dinklaker, auspiciously on loan from the Royal Australian Navy,
possessed a nose that was keener than a bloodhound's. As soon as she arrived
at the crime scene, she prized the drumstick out of Lipsnacker's hand and
smelt it. A minute, heavy with tension, passed. Then Dinklaker calmly said,
"It was Colonel Mustard ... with a candlestick ... in the library." Sgt.
Pringler knew of no Colonel Mustard, and Bung Hollow didn't have a library.
But he was happy to let suspicion fall elsewhere, as he shoved the
candlestick he was trying to conceal farther down his trousers - a move,
unluckily for him, that did not escape the good lieutenant's nose.

Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for
Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame: Graphic Scores for Hard Eight to be premiered on
December 8, 2013 for the Composer's Voice concert Series at the Jan Hus
Church in New York City. This call is for graphic scores which can be freely
interpreted by any instrument or combination of instruments in an ensemble.

HARD EIGHT - Dice (commonly known as craps), is a game often played for
money where the player (referred to as the shooter) rolls 2 dice hoping to
roll a winning combination. The number 8 can be obtained 3 ways. The "easy
way" by rolling a 6 and 2 or a 3 and 5, or the "hard way" by rolling a 4 and
4. "Hard" numbers are any 2 pair combinations: 2 and 2, 3 and 3, 4 and 4, 5
and 5, and 6 and 6. Betting on the "hard" number combination results in a
larger return when it is thrown.

Calling for Proposals for HARD EIGHT

Composer's Voice is calling for performance proposals for its concert
scheduled December 8th, 2013. The theme for the concert is "Hard Eight" All
proposals must be less than 8 minutes in total; applicants are STRONGLY
urged to keep their proposals for performances between 4-8 minutes. The
concert is a celebration of Composer's Voice founder and Director Robert
Voisey for his 44th birthday.

Performance Proposals should include:
- Title
- Relation to theme - (program notes)
- Instrumentation
- Length of performance
- Biographies of performers and composers
- All proposals should be submitted by August 8, 2013 to
composersvoicesubmit at gmail.com
- The email subject should read Hard Eight - your name - Title of Proposal


Chosen applicants will receive a performance slot on Composer's Voice
concert December 8th, 2013 at Jan Hus Church in New York City, PR and
administrative assistance from Composer's Voice, and the heartfelt
appreciation of Robert Voisey. :)

Proposals should indicate if they need Vox Novus and Composer's Voice to
help recruit musicians. Any and all questions should be address to
composersvoicesubmit at gmail.com with "Hard Eight" in the subject heading.
