Composer's Voice in collaboration with Music at Silver Lake Library
presents Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame: Maksim Velichkin, cello: 15 one-minute
pieces by 15 composers from around the world, writing specifically for
this project to be premiered on this concert! This international
collaboration will present the music of Rodrigo Baggio; Dylan Baker;
Erol Bugra Balci; James Bohn; Inna Buganina; Pat Hanchet; Dmitry
Kitsenko; Hossein Nourani; David Obaniyi; Ken Paoli; Akmal Parwez; David
J. Ramsey; Jana Skarecky; Roger C. Vogel; Christopher M. Wicks
representing: Brazil; Turkey; Russia; England; Ukraine; Iran; Canada;
and the USA.

Maksim Velichkin is an accomplished cellist, pianist, and
harpsichordist who has been active as a soloist, chamber musician, and
orchestra artist among an international circle featuring venerable
conductors and headlining classical stars such as James Levine, Kurt
Masur, Charles Dutoit, Yuri Temirkanov, Wolfgang Sawallish, Herbert
Blomstedt, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Gabor Takacs-Nagy, Sarah Chang, Maxim
Vengerov, Yuri Bashmet, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Joshua
Bell, Martha Argerich. His recording credits include Stevie Wonder,
Chick Corea, Billy Childs, Burt Bacharach, Bobby McFerrin, Dwight
Trible, Bitter:Sweet, Chris Botti, Bob James, Josh Groban, Red Elvises,
Bernadette Peters, Natalie Cole, Alan Silvestri, Richard Thompson and
many others. He performs and tours frequently with the Verbier Chamber
Orchestra throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia, and
Australia.
