Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame Featuring Linda Chatterton and Maja Radovanlija

Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for flute and 
guitar. Selected works will be premiered in Fall 2024 with 
Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame by Linda Chatterton and Maja Radovanlija. This 
performance will be presented as a live streaming online concert online 
via Streamyard broadcast to multiple streaming platforms such as YouTube 
and Facebook.

Only works one-minute in length will be considered.

For a description of types of pieces: Any genre is great. Extended 
techniques and some elements of improvisation are fine. No piccolo, alto 
or bass flute, please.

For this Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, we are looking for flute and guitar 
works (no electronics) specifically written for Linda Chatterton and 
Maja Radovanlija.

Guidelines:
Deadline for works is April 8, 2024
Works are for flute and guitar duo only. (no electronics) (No piccolo, 
alto or bass flute.)
No works over one minute (60 seconds) will be reviewed.
Works should be composed specifically for this call and performer.
All pieces must be premieres.
Multiple submissions are not accepted. Send your best work!
Works need to be submitted online at www.MusicAvatar.org
You will need to register with Music Avatar for free to submit your work 
online.
After logging in to Music Avatar, select the opportunity named 
"Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame featuring Linda Chatterton and Maja 
Radovanlija" and press the "submit" button to start the submission 
process.
You will need to provide a maximum 50 word biography and 50 word program 
note.
You will be able to upload a score as a PDF file (You are also 
encouraged to upload an audio realization of the work)
Must include the dedication to Linda Chatterton and Maja Radovanlija on 
the score.
Performance notes should be included in the score.
Selected works will be broadcasted online to multiple video streaming 
platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo. No performance 
royalties will be paid. Selected composers will be asked to sign a 
consent form.



Results will be announced via the Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame website.

Linda Chatterton and Maja Radovanlija Duo
The Minneapolis-based flute and guitar duo of Linda Chatterton & Maja 
Radovanlija was formed in 2015. Their concert programs span 400 years 
but emphasize contemporary works by composers in the US and throughout 
the world.  Recent international projects include concert tours of 
Thailand and China; a performance on the GuitarArt Festival in 
Montenegro; and the world premiere of Aaron Travers’ “Box Gardens” at 
the Havana International Contemporary Music Festival in Cuba. In the US, 
recent projects include a Midwest concert residency as winners of 
Chamber Music America’s Residency Partnership program, and concerts at 
Indiana University, Marshall University, University of Georgia, Furman 
University and the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Their newest 
concert program, “Música de las Américas,” features the premiere of a 
major new work written for them by Brazilian-American composer Clarice 
Assad as winners of Chamber Music America’s Classical Commissioning 
program and a new work by Chilean-Colombian composer and guitarist 
Javier Contreras. Linda and Maja are also soloists, and Maja is a member 
of the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet and instructor of guitar at the 
University of Minnesota; in these roles, both musicians have 
commissioned, recorded and premiered hundreds of new works.

Linda Chatterton
“The kind of performance that sparks wild standing ovations. Definitive” 
says the American Record Guide of flutist Linda Chatterton. Ms. 
Chatterton has performed in New York at Carnegie and Alice Tully halls, 
was a featured recitalist on the prestigious Dame Myra Hess series in 
Chicago, and has been heard throughout the US many times on National 
Public Radio’s Performance Today.  A Minneapolis-based artist, Ms. 
Chatterton has performed with numerous groups including the Minnesota 
Orchestra, and she tours regularly as a duo performer with harp, guitar 
and piano. As a concerto soloist, highlights include many performances 
of traditional and contemporary repertoire in the US and Europe. She has 
served as a US State Department Arts Ambassador overseas.

  Ms. Chatterton has commissioned, recorded and premiered dozens of new 
works, including music by Edie Hill, Lu Pei, Abbie Betinis, Jocelyn 
Hagen, David Kechley, Wendy Wan-Ki Lee, Aaron Travers, Takuma Itoh, 
Brian Ciach and Roberto Sierra. She recently gave the world premiere of 
Chen Yi’s “Southern Scenes” flute and pipa concerto with the Hawai’i 
Symphony Orchestra, conductor JoAnn Falletta and pipa player Gao Hong; 
in May 2019 she gave the world premiere of Cuban composer Leo Brouwer’s 
“Balada del Bosque y el Ave” for flute and guitar quartet, with the 
Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, in St. Paul.

Maja Radovanlija
Maja Radovanlija was born in Belgrade, Serbia and has been playing 
guitar since the age of nine. Radovanlija completed her bachelor’s 
degree at the University of Belgrade and received her master’s and 
doctor of music at jacobs School of Music, Indiana University. During 
her studies, she won several prizes at international guitar competitions 
in Serbia and Bulgaria. Since then, she has performed frequently as a 
solo and chamber musician, touring European countries, Middle-east and 
North Africa. Radovanlija’s interests include musical genres beyond 
classical, such as traditional Balkan music, jazz, experimental, and 
improvised music.

As graduate student at Indiana University, Radovanlija won second prize 
at a Latin-American music competition and was included on two 
compilation CDs produced by the Latin-American Music Center. During her 
studies, she often performed new music for guitar, including pieces 
written by Don Freund and Aaron Travors.
