On March 29, 2025 2:00 PM EDT (UTC-5) Tune in to Composer's Voice on
Manhattan Neighborhood Network for an intimate half-hour of music and
conversation with the father-daughter cello duo, Craig Hultgren and Shelby
Camp. Hultgren, a celebrated cellist for whom over 300 solo compositions
have been created, has been praised for his "impressive poise and
sensitivity" (New York Classical Review) and now lives a dual life as a
farmer-cellist in Iowa. His daughter, Shelby Camp, whose talent was
recognized early on at the age of 13 when she was invited to perform as a
soloist with the Moscow Ballet is a dedicated music major at Rowan
University. Come listen to a compelling blend of artistry and family
connection on Composer's Voice.
Composer's Voice showcases full contemporary works from living composers by
musicians who champion new music.
Episodes of Composer's Voice air its half-hour show every 2 weeks on
Saturday at 2:00 PM EDT (UTC-5) on NYC cable access TV with Manhattan
Neighborhood's Network channel 2.

The Sanctuary on the Green Arts, Cultural, and Community Alliance, in
collaboration with Vox Novus, is proud to present the next concert in its
Sanctuary Sounds series: "Beyond the Scores – Glimpses into the Lives of
Classical Composers", featuring violinist Laurel Gagnon and pianist Marina
Iwao, on Sunday, March 30th at 3:00 PM.
This intimate performance invites audiences to explore the personal and
cultural contexts behind iconic classical works, revealing the human
stories woven into the music of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Richard Strauss,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and George Gershwin.
Program highlights include:
Sonata for Violin and Piano in B-flat Major, KV 454 – W.A. Mozart
Selections from Porgy and Bess – George Gershwin, arr. Heifetz
Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 3 – Samuel Coleridge-Taylor
Sonata for Violin and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 18 – Richard Strauss
Laurel Gagnon is an award-winning violinist praised for her "naturalness...
both disarming and distinctive" (The Straits Times, Singapore). A top
prizewinner of the Elmar Oliveira and Singapore International Violin
Competitions, she currently studies with Augustin Hadelich at the Yale
School of Music.
Marina Iwao is a sought-after pianist whose collaborative performances span
prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall. She is
a dedicated interpreter of contemporary works and a member of Random Access
Music, frequently premiering compositions by living composers.
The series, known for its eclectic and boundary-crossing musical
selections, has found a new home in the heart of Bloomfield, embracing the
town’s rich cultural and artistic heritage.
This event is part of Sanctuary on the Green's mission to create a home for
art, culture, and community engagement in the heart of Bloomfield.
Sanctuary Sounds continues to offer world-class music in an inviting and
inspiring space.
Vox Novus is an organization devoted to the promotion of contemporary
composers and performers. Through its innovative programming, Vox Novus
seeks to expand the reach of new music and build connections between
artists across the globe.
