[game_edu] Questions for the Candidates

I'll answer the questions in reverse order:

The curriculum framework: I used the IGDA curriculum framework extensively when we reshaped our degrees last year (we added a 4-year program, and reshaped the existing 2-year program). The framework was very helpful when deciding which courses to offer, and I used it all the time. It was also very useful when dealing with administrators. Being able to say "Well here's what the IGDA thinks" had a lot of credibility with higher-ups.

International IGDA: I am not familiar with any differences between countries in game design curricula, but that is a good point. We will have to keep in touch or better yet, recruit, some people from outside the US. This is an international organization and it should act like one.

Subject: [game_edu] Questions for the Candidates

I have been reading the candidate statements and wanted to ask a few more questions. I hope that everyone also takes this as a queue to ask questions as well.

One thing I noticed in all of the statements is that no one addressed that we are an international organization. Everyone running is strictly from the US. How do you think you will address the needs of varying curriculums from all over the world?

Some people have brought up the curriculum framework in their statements. Is our current framework working? Also, an aside, I would be interested in finding out if those running have adopted the current framework in their schools? What would you do to get wider adoption?

I wish you all luck and I look forward to your answers.

Susan
