I don't know of a "standard." You can use what ever you want, as long as it
is consistent! I use the RETMA color code for snakes (black brown red
orange, etc). For video I use:
coax:
red = sync
blue = 601
yellow = monitor
green = NTSC
orange= temp
white = off air RF
black = source RF (satellite, ENG etc).

For audio:
Gray = left
black = right
blue = AES
yellow = intercom
green = mono
orange = temp
white (alternate for gray)
brown = time code.

RETMA color code for snakes.

For the Belden/Joseph 2V 4A camera snakes:
black = black burst (sync)
red = video
brown audio mic 1
red audio mic 2
yellow/orange = intercom/IFB with reversed XLR's.

We also use color coded labels. The old labels were black ink on white. For
the new digital plant is it black on orange. So when you are looking at two
wires with the same info in the middle of a rebuild, you know which is original
and which is new!

Hope this helps.

Don't forget digital total path length is critical, as is the BNC connectors.
Another local station tried to use "regular" BNC's and had to replace all the
connectors when the digits didn't make it out the far end. 8281 is not useful
anymore. 1505 and 1855 Belden or Gepco seem to work best. If you need good
prices, I buy from EOS rich at eostechgroup.com 516 797 9100. He also sells a
lot of brands of TV hardware, Leitch, AJA, etc.
