[SBE] Loose Circuit Board

My experience is as follows..... if the suggestions mentioned (previously in
this thread) do not pan out for you, then you have a solder connection problem
UNDER the card socket..... these mother boards are flow soldered, and due to
the thermal expansion and contraction of the mother board with use and age,
around these solder connections, they will many times "break" the solder flow
connection(s). many times this can be seen with a magnifying glass inspection
of the actual flow soldered socket pins. watch for a radial crack in the
solder around the pin(s) themselves

The cure for me in the past has been to simply re-flow the solder using a
good quality rosin flux. a good practice has been to re-flow ALL the solder
points in the socket while it is easy to do (you are already set up for this to do
just one).

my further experience has been that if both sides of the contact path,
(socket and plug or PC card edge connectors) are, or look like gold, then a simple
solvent cleaning using trich and cotton q-tips is all that is needed. after
the 3rd or 4th disassembly of the machine to re-seat cards, I have been forced
to bite the bullet, and re-flow the solder, and the problem went away.
probably should have done that in the first pass, but I never seem to be able to
choose the harder path, when the other path is so easy in the get go.
