Hi All,

For years I have used some DOS software from an equipment supplier. Its been really handy and I keep it on my DOS Pocket HP for use in the field. You will find all kinds of calculations that are simply the best for a quick reference and it includes things like pad calculators. Just thought I would share the link with all who may not know about it. I don't know if you can use it with Vista. But is works on all other PC OS's... and FreeDOS. The URL is: http://www.rfspec.com/rfs.htm

Yesterday, I was working on a cue tone decoder system. I have a stack of
DigiCiper IRD's that have a cue tone out but the signal is way too hot for
the DTMF decoder. I was feeding the signal into an analog audio DA and had
the gain jumper at -12 db which was still too hot. I needed another -10 db
or so of attenuation but I needed it at 600 ohms input and output. After
some Google searching I found an article by Chriss Scherer at
WWW.RADIOMAGONLINE.COM that included a calculator for the resistor values.

I ran the requirements through the calculator, went to the annex to get the
parts, put it together and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the great resource Chriss! I wonder; does anybody on the list
maintain a website or 'personal' list of especially reliable tidbits of
engineering stuff like this? If not It might be an ideal 'tab' to add to the
SBE website.

Best regards,

Chris Spacone
