The GSC-3000 will keep calling till you answer, you can also set different
kinds of callouts.

I've heard the ARC+ is pretty spiffy, but I haven't used it personally.

Thanks Vic. Yeah, we're aware of that "feature."

It looks like, for the time being, we'll just have to fill up the available
callout slots.

Does anyone know if the new Burk units have any improvements in this area?

Curt - I have the same condition with our ARC-16's. I do not know of a way
to work around this except to have multiple phone numbers in the unit. It
will call a list of numbers until 1) someone answers, or 2) it runs out of
numbers.

One other design "feature" of this system you need to be aware of is, once
an alarm condition has been set, it will not dial out on other alarms. So,
for instance, if your site transferred to generator, the unit called you,
and you did not clear the alarm, it would then not make another call due to
a something else setting an alarm condition.

In defense of the unit --- Peter's design is 20+ years old now, and for its
day, it worked much better than anything else on the market. My units work
well, they just have design limitions..

Subject: [SBE] Burk ARC-16 Question

I've got a bit of a dilema regarding our Burk ARC-16 remote control
system, and before I set about possibly re-inventing the wheel, I figured
I'd put it up here to see if anyone else had "been there, done that, got the
t-shirt."

Our Burk is set to call the CE whenever the transfer switch for our
generator switches, so he knows that the site is now running on generator
power. Well, this past weekend we had a power failure at the site. The
backup power system did exactly what it was supposed to do, except the Burk
never called him to tell him. So this morning he finds out that the
generator was basically running all weekend!

Is there a somewhat simple way to get the Burk to call out on an
alarm more than once? In this case, even if it actually called him and he
missed the call, it wouldn't have called him back. I guess the simplest
solution would be to add additional numbers to the callout list, but is
there a way to perhaps have the unit call on an hourly or bi-hourly basis
until the alarm condition no longer exists?

What other failsafes can you suggest?
