I currently operate a satellite truck and never have needed any formal FCC
training.
I was trained by other engineers in my company.  

I did hear of a school that trained uplinkers once ( I believe in Iowa) or
somewhere out there.

In the meantime, as an additional source of information for those who have
been or are being trained, Sam Sinke has posted a very thorough manual for
satellite uplinking.  I'll include a link to the page (instead of the giant
PDF).  Go to   http://sngforum.com/ and then click on the link for the
manual.  Check it out if you get a chance.

must have operated half a dozen different uplink trucks.  No
certification was ever requested.

Maybe things have changed.  Back then, the only time it came up, I was
assured that the only needed license was for the transmitter, and that
it was in a file folder...somewhere.
