Pondering this whole scenario.....

Take the STL transmitter to the receive end. Put it on the RX antenna.
Watch the SWR.

If do-able, also put the RX at the transmit end, and watch signal that way too.

In other words, does the problem exist in both directions, and does
either end cause the TX to see an SWR issue ?
