[SBE] Sound card issue -- Tell me I'm not crazy!

I have been having similar issues with Audition 3.0 for months now. On the
offending machines I am using an EMU0404 Card, but the concept is similar:
Play back from a source on the computer (i.e. a YouTube video) into Audition
3.0 and about 50% of the time it will crash the sound card. I end up
having to reboot the computer before I can play out or record in.

Audition 3.0 has been a buggy program since we first installed it (which
terrifies me as I was told it was a vast improvement over 2.0 which I had
not experienced). Huge resource hog, finicky, really easy to screw things
up on it (and thus really easy to get a 4am phone call from a morning show
producer who suddenly can't find the cursor icon!). I miss v1.5 but from
what I'm told they don't support it anymore! I've tried a couple of
third-party ASIO drivers and nothing has really helped much.
